Raffi knows a thing or two about children. He really hit the nail on the head with the Baby Beluga song. It's catchy and about a sweet little whale...and you know how Luke is with whales, so I've been listening to it nonstop in the car. On the same album, there is a song about how thankful he is for everything (Luke heard it and said, "Hey! This song is about having good manners!") and a song that says, "All I really need is a song in my heart/food in my belly/and love in my family" (to which Luke said, "I feel the love in MY family!" Sweetie!)
Raffi really sparked an interest in songs...and since we don't have any instruments in the house besides F's guitar (which they are not allowed to touch unless he's playing it with them), he broke out the bongo drums we got in Mexico. And a hammer, of course. The first song Luke composed was about whales, the next one was about his family (which I didn't post because it wasn't properly captured...but during the course of which he said he loved the babies, especially when they were napping and Diego and Alicia from "Go! Diego, Go!), and the last one he sang was about the continents. I have included all of them for your enjoyment...I'm not sure, but I think he gets sweeter and more considerate every day (Okay, lest you think I am being too gushy, he did bite Mikey's foot yesterday morning right after Anna bit his back...Mikey was taking toys again...but it was a little shocking because Luke is not a violent dude...after sending him to time-out on the step, I asked him what he was thinking of and he said he was an Orca and M was a Harp seal and he was just hungry)...all this interest in music is really fun to be around (L says when he grows up he will play the drums and the guitar). Viva, Raffi!! I'm not sure he is still recording music, but his songs have sparked the music-lovers in our family. I must add that I am really surprised by how that Baby Beluga song stays in your head even if you haven't memorized all the words...Now I have to go make bananna pancakes for the wee ones...hope you enjoy this!
