It finally happened. L graduated from kindergarten on Tuesday. Crazy how time flies! I can remember the struggle it was to get him to go to preschool so clearly and now he's going to be an elementary schooler! He's that old (he is currently telling me how he is going to cure Anna's kity, Kity Whiskers Marston, of something called "zebra goo")...he reads, he writes (kind of), he lectures people about animal behaviour, etc. I was very, very weepy at the ceremony...the thing with parenting (and I'd said this ad nauseum) is that it seems to take
forever...it seems like you are always going to have these kiddos and then: bam! They are going into elementary school (I told L he wouldn't return home a kindergartner when we were driving to the school because I am cheesy dork like that...and he said, "Really? I'm gonna be a GRADER??")...and then bam! They are borrowing your car for a date. And then they are asking you to pay for their college...or their wedding...and it is so enveloping that sometimes you forget to cherish the little kids they are right now...before they disappear into adulthood forever...anyhooo...I better go figure out how to draw a red-tailed hawk and a peregrine falcon (whales were much, much simpler to draw) now...enjoy these!
