Brenna's Mom has got it goin on...

Beware the cow ona scooter...she's so cute, she'll make you pass out...

Motorin' down the boardwalk...
I don't have a picture to post with this entry.  So you'll have to make do with a random one.  Let me find one and I will continue...okay, photos of the cuties dutifully posted.  So I have to write a blog entry about Brenna's mom (did I already mention this?  I forget if I did) and Luke's great love for her.  It started last month when his friend, Brenna, turned five and had her birthday celebration at school.  Luke came home talking about how much he liked making new friends and how that day he had made one and how she wore a pretty dress and ran really fast.  I thought he was talking about Brenna's little sister.  Nope.  It is Brenna's Mom that has captured his heart and imagination.
I've never seen him so fascinated by a person, really.  He was so excited that he could go to Brenna's party so he could see his new friend.  He drew her pictures and picked out his favorite and best stickers to put all over a piece of construction paper.  He started imagining elaborate scenarios is which he, Buzz Lightyear, had to rescue Brenna's mother from danger or Brenna, herself...all of which would end with Brenna's mom's deep appreciation and gratitude.  So cute!  He even said one night, "Mom, in September, I want to invite Brenna to my birthday party.  Because then she'll bring her mom."  I laughed so hard (every night we do "Three Things" in which you have to tell what your 3 favorite moments of the day were...and this came out of that conversation).  I thought his enthusiasm would diminish over time, but it has not yet.  He is always so happy to see her and still mentions her from time to time.  I don't think it is a crush...because I don't think Luke is emotionally sophisticated enough to think of things like that...plus, he's already determined to marry Emma Pagano when he grows up as she is the nicest girl he knows.  Oh, and Brenna's mom is already  married.  Hence, Brenna and her sister.
Sometimes I feel a little shafted because lately I'm like the red-heade step-child around here.  Anna is full-on Daddy/Grampy girl (she spent a number of days constantly reiterating to me that she is NOT my girl, she is Daddy's girl.  And he will never let her go.)  Every time Mikey gets into trouble, he professes a deep and abiding affection for all things Daddy.  Luke was my faithful buddy...until Brenna's mom.  Now, he tells me stories where one child and one adult go for adventures on the backs of friendly sperm whales and then whole time he is spinning his tale, I am thinking I am the adult in the story.  Not so, silly lady.  He said, "And it was just me with Brenna's mom!"  I had a good run, so I suppose I can't complain.  I was on top of the list around here for a good five years.  Plus, yesterday he called me a hero yesterday afternoon for finding his Buzz under the couch when he was desperate for him.  I guess I still get the love when the chips are down....
PS: I am totally kidding about feeling like I'm getting the shaft...
